2015 Alfa Romeo 4C: Australian price and specs

The svelte and sexy Alfa Romeo 4C coupe launches in Australia next month, with the brand’s Australian arm revealing what you’ll be charged for the privilege of owning a 4C.

It’s a vehicle Alfa Romeo is labelling a supercar – and even if the 4C doesn’t hit such highs, the basic list price of $89,000 should trigger a sharp intake of breath. That’s a fraction of the cost of other exotic Italian cars. The 4C is more focussed than luxurious – and with a sprint time to 100 of just 4.5 seconds, the Alfa is properly quick.

75 examples of a more generously-optioned Launch Edition will also be coming to Australia, priced at $109,000, before costs.

In base specification, the 4C’s list price is $89,000 – highly aggressive pricing for a vehicle Alfa Romeo is labelling a supercar. We wonder if it hits such highs, but objectively, the 4C offers breathtaking performance for a fraction of the cost of more exotic Italian models.

The Launch Edition adds a number of carbon fibre fittings, 18-inch matte black wheels, and red brake callipers over the standard 4C. A racing exhaust even more aggressive than the basic specification is also fitted to the special-edition car.

The special model will be the first to sell out, though, aimed at existing Alfa Romeo buyers. Of course, buyers of the $90k base can still look forward to the 1.7-litre turbo four producing 177kW and 350Nm, sitting on a part-carbon chassis and paired only to a dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddles. At just four metres in length and 1,025 kilograms, the 4C will be a genuinely entertaining drive.

The 4C launches in February.
