2019 Audi A7 Australian pricing and specifications revealed

Not long after its international reveal, Audi Australia has announced local pricing and specifications for the 2019 Audi A7 , which arrives in local showrooms in November. Priced from $131,900 plus on-road costs, Audi claims that more than $10,000 of extra value has been placed in each A7 spec through the addition of extra standard equipment and more technology.

Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform, the second generation 2019 Audi A7 will initially be offered in Australia with two engines – one petrol, one diesel – matched to the company’s famed quattro all-wheel drive system.

For now, just two 2019 Audi A7 variants will be available in Australia. The 55 TFSI petrol engine is a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that produces 250kW of power and 500Nm torque and is matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Buyers preferring diesel can choose the A7 50 TDI, which uses a 210kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel with an eight-speed automatic. A 180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre turbo 45 TFSI will join the A7 range in 2019.

All local 2019 Audi A7 models will fitted with mild-hybrid technology, which employs a belt alternator starter and a 10 Ah lithium-ion battery. This means that the A7 can coast between 55 and 160km/h with the engine turned off – a 48-volt system also acts as the car’s main electrical system. In all, Audi says that this system can save up to 0.7L/100km in everyday driving. NEDC fuel consumption cycling suggests that the 55 TFSI uses 6.8L/100km and the 50 TDI 5.5L/100km – Australian numbers are yet to be confirmed.

Priced identically at $131,900 plus on-road costs, the two available engines are also equipped the same. Active safety equipment levels are quite strong, with AEB with forward collision alert in front and reverse, adaptive cruise control with stop&go and traffic jam assist, lane assist, blind spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, collision avoidance assist, turn assist, passenger exit warning, intersection assist and efficiency assist. The A7 also has a 360-degree parking camera with kerb view functionality.

Equipment highlights also include 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, Audi’s MMI navigation plus with dual 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch touchscreens, virtual cockpit digital dials, heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, electric front seats with driver’s memory functionality, Matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators, a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system and Audi’s S Line interior and exterior styling. Options pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
