2019 BMW Z4 Australian pricing revealed

BMW Australia has revealed pricing and specifications for the 2019 BMW Z4, which goes on sale in April. Using the same underpinnings and drivetrain as the new Toyota Supra, the new generation Z4 is larger than the car it replaces and it packs a larger punch, including a 250kW M40i variant.

Priced from $84,900 plus on-road costs, the new Z4 is available in three specifications in Australia – the base 20i, mid-spec 30i and top spec M40i – and is well equipped in Australian specification.

“The all new BMW Z4 is a triumphant return to our enduring Z model heritage,” said BMW Group Australia CEO, Vikram Pawah.

“It is a real statement piece for the brand, combining stand-out styling and impressive engine performance with handling dynamics to really please the driver,” he said.

Measuring 4,324mm long (+85mm), 1,864mm wide (+74mm), 1,304mm high (+13mm) and with a 2,470mm long wheelbase (-26mm), the 2019 BMW Z4 has grown in all dimensions aside from wheelbase. Its 281-litre bootspace is 101-litres larger than the previous model, thanks largely to the adoption of a more compact cloth roof – the previous model offered a folding metal hard top roof, which uses more space.

Three models are on offer in the Australian Z4 range. The entry point is the sDrive20i ($84,900 plus on-road costs), which is powered by a 145kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that uses 6.5L/100km on a combined cycle. The middle of the range is the sDrive30i ($104,900), which uses a 190kW/400Nm version of the 20i’s engine and uses an identical 6.5L/100km of fuel. The top of the range is the M40i ($124,900), which uses a 250kW/500Nm 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine and a claimed 7.5L/100km of fuel. All variants use an eight-speed ZF gearbox.

Standard equipment on all 2019 BMW Z4 variants is strong, with the sDrive20i offering 18-inch alloy wheels, the M Sport package, LED headlights with automatic high beam, wireless phone charging, auto-dimming mirrors, electrically adjustable M Sport seats in BMW’s Vernasca leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, cruise control with braking functionality, a heads-up display, a 10-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay and DAB+ digital radio.

The sDrive30i then adds 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, M Sport brakes, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, adaptive M suspension and LED headlights with adaptive high beam. The M40i then includes a M Sport differential, lumbar adjustment, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
