Not long after the 2019 Ford Ranger updates were announced, its Everest SUV sister vehicle has also been updated. The 2019 Ford Everest will hit Australia in September armed the same 157kW/500Nm with a 10-speed automatic transmission on some models, with AEB availability on Trend and Titanium models and Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system now across the range.
A spec update mostly, the 2019 Everest has also introduced some other new equipment to the range such as HID headlights on the Trend and active noise cancellation for models with the new biturbo diesel engine.
“Australians can expect to see impressive new content options including a 500Nm biturbo engine with greater towing capacity, push-button start and Autonomous Emergency Braking, offering state of the art technology while retaining Everest’s value proposition,” said John Willems, Chief Program Engineer, Ford Everest.
Depending on model chosen, the Everest is available with either a 143kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo diesel (8.4L-8.5L/100km combined) or a 157KW/500Nm biturbo 2.0-litre diesel (6.9-7.1L/100km) from the Ranger Raptor. The five-cylinder unit is mated to a six-speed automatic, whilst the biturbo engine is only available with a new 10-speed automatic – both are available in rear- or all-wheel drive, depending on model.
Ford has added numerous items of standard equipment to each Everest grade. The entry-level Ambiente has scored the most, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and DAB+ digital radio now standard, as well as a 10-speaker sound system, halogen projector headlights with daytime running lights, a laminated acoustic windscreen, a new front bumper design, electric-folding mirrors, keyless entry and start, a new design of gearknob and a darker ‘Ebony’ interior now standard. Ambiente models still miss out on autonomous emergency braking (AEB), however.
Mid-tier Trend models gain HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, a hands-free power tailgate, leather upholstery with an eight-way powered driver’s seat, a leather gearknob, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition. That is on top of rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beam headlights, a leather steering wheel and gearknob, front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
Top-spec Titanium models also gain new 20-inch alloy wheels, a tow bar rated to 3,100kg and a leather handbrake, on top of equipment such as a panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, ambient lighting, blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring, running boards and chrome door handles.

Ford Everest sales have improved in 2019 so far by 43.7-percent year-on-year to 3,135 units. This is a positive result in a segment that has fallen 4.1 percent to 67,403 units.
