2019 Lexus LX570 S added to Australian range

 

Lexus Australia has added a new variant to its LX large SUV lineup, with the new 2019 Lexus LX570 S now available to buyers. Said to be a ‘more dynamic’ addition to the LX range, the LX570 S is instantly identifiable as an S thanks to its gloss black 21-inch alloy wheels and a new mesh grille design – both items giving the LX more presence.

So far in 2018, Lexus has sold 277 LX models – an increase of 10.7 percent year on year thanks to the introduction of the diesel-powered LX450d – and sales are expected to increase further thanks to the S variant. Priced from $169,089 plus on-road costs, the LX570 S is on sale now.

Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson said the new LX 570 S would complement the brand’s flagship SUV model lineup while contributing to its sales, which are up 10.4 per cent so far this year.

“The striking features of the 2019 Lexus LX 570 S, from its unique exterior styling to the dynamic upgrades, symbolise the evolution of the LX model and will further expand its popularity among consumers,” Mr Thompson said.

Based on the standard LX570 with the Enhancement Package, the 2019 Lexus LX S adds gloss black 21-inch alloy wheels, a sports bodykit with a mesh front grille in a sportier design, performance front dampers, semi-aniline leather upholstery in either black or burgundy, alloy pedals, puddle lamps with an ‘LX S’ logo and an LX570 S rear badge.

This is on top of the LX570’s lengthy standard equipment list, which includes Lexus Safety System+ with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, adaptive high beam and 10 airbags. The LX570 range also has heated and ventilated front and middle outboard seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, a panoramic parking camera and quad-zone climate control.

Under the bonnet of the LX570 S is a 5.7-litre petrol V8 that produces 270kW of power and 530Nm of torque, which is matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system with air suspension. LIke the standard LX570, the LX570 S is equipped with a 138-litre fuel tank. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 14.4L/100km, giving the LX570 a 950km cruising range.

So far in 2018, Lexus has sold 277 LXs – an increase of 10.7 percent, largely thanks to the addition of the diesel LX450d. This places it in second place in the upper large SUV segment behind the Mercedes-Benz GLS, which has sold a huge 802 examples so far this year.
