2019 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Geneva bound

Land Rover has launched the latest variant of the Range Rover Velar range, with the 2019 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition due on sale in Australia in the third quarter of 2019. Positioned as the highest-performance Range Rover Velar, the SVAutobiography is fitted with a 405kW/680Nm supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine.

But instead of being called the Velar SVR as many expected, the SVAutobiography isn’t the all-out bruiser that the larger Range Rover Sport SVR is. Instead, it’s more luxurious than regular Velar models thanks to upgraded interior trimmings, and is less extroverted than the Range Rover Sport SVR with more subtle exterior styling and colour choices.

Michael van der Sande, Managing Director, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “Developing the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the kind of task Special Vehicle Operations was made for. The challenge here was to increase performance without compromising the composure, capability and refinement inherent in Range Rover Velar.”

“We’ve done this and, in the process, created an SUV that strikes a brilliant balance between go-anywhere practicality, dynamic performance and relaxing comfort – it truly is an SUV for any occasion.”

Like the incoming Jaguar F-Pace SVR, the Velar SVAutobiography uses a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that produces 405kW of power and 680Nm of torque. Matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SVAutobiography is capable of a 4.5 second sprint to 100km/h and a top speed of 274km/h.

The SVO overhaul also included larger 395mm front/396mm rear brakes, as well as over 63,900 hours fine tuning various parts of the car, including the air suspension, ride and handling, all-wheel drive system, transmission, steering and active locking rear differential. A variable sports exhaust also features with quad pipes.

The 2019 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition also features different styling to the regular Velar range, with a sportier and deeper front apron, 21-inch (or optional 22-inch) alloy wheels and several gloss black touches, including the front and rear diffusers, mirror caps, roof, grille and tailgate insert.

The interior has also been modified, with perforated Windsor leather available in four different colour combinations, 20-way electric front seats, a ‘specially contoured’ steering wheel rim and knurled controls for the transmission selector and other select interior functions.
