Mini JCW Millbrook Edition sports exclusive paint, driving lights

BMW’s light car brand, Mini, are marking the start of 2019 with another special edition – this time based on the performance variant of the three-door range – the John Cooper Works. Coined the JCW Millbrook Edition, the latest limited-run Mini for Australia, sports an exclusive shade of blue, unique alloys and driving lights fitted as standard.

Just twenty examples of the Millbrook Edition will make it to Australia, making it one of the more unique limited-run Minis seen in recent years. Priced at $57,275 list (driveway pricing not yet available), the Millbrook is a $4,425 uncharge over the JCW grade it is based on.

“Millbrook, with its specific appearance and JCW performance, is a fitting special edition…and with only 20 destined for the Australian market, it will become a collector’s item,” according to Mini Australia general manager Brett Waudby.

Mini says the sole offering of Ice Blue metallic hue is a heritage colour for the brand, and it is quite smartly offset by 17-inch light alloy wheels painted in gloss black. The wheels are wrapped in ‘performance’ tyres – a specific type has not yet been specified.

Further aesthetic distinction comes by way of the standard driving lights and covers, which the British brand says is a nod to rallying Minis of the sixties.

The Millbrook shares the JCW’s turbocharged two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 170kW/320Nm sent to the front wheels, through an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The six-speed manual gearbox that is an option on the standard JCW is, sadly, not offered.

Aside from the aesthetic alterations and tyres, the Millbrook adds further equipment over a standard JCW. The Millbrook adds several options from the JCW as standard, including the climate pack ($2,300 – includes sunroof, sun glazing and heated seats), and ‘Lounge’ leather upholstery.

Other specification is identical to the JCW, with the Millbrook equipped with adaptive dampers, LED headlights, an 8.8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging and navigation, a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo, and a head-up display.

Further equipment includes dual-zone climate control, auto lights and wipers, DAB digital radio, and park assist.

The Mini JCW Millbrook Edition will be available to order in the first quarter of 2019. With so few available, it’d be a good idea to start chatting to a dealer if you’re interested.
