Toyota Land Cruiser 200 boosted for 2019

Matching its more luxurious Lexus LX570 sibling in getting an update for 2019, Toyota Australia has updated the Land Cruiser 200 Series to keep freshness in the new car market. Mainly an equipment update with more safety kit for the entry GXL and mid-range VX models, the Land Cruiser is better value than before.

So far in 2018, Toyota has sold 9,452 Land Cruiser 200s, which is an increase of 8.2 on the same timeframe in 2017. Priced from $78,190 plus on-road costs, the upgraded Land Cruiser 200 is now in Toyota dealerships.

Toyota Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said Toyota was continually improving all its vehicles to better meet the expectations of customers.

“The Toyota LandCruiser has been an Australian favourite since it first arrived here, regularly praised for its comfortable and extremely competent ability to get to the most remote corners of the country… and back,” Mr Hanley said.

“Part of that ability comes from its advanced technology to assist drivers whatever the terrain they come across and the upgrades we are introducing for the mid-range GXL and VX models, further aids that assistance,” he said.

Priced from $84,480 plus on-road costs, the entry level Land Cruiser 200 GXL is now better equipped than before. Now standard equipment is a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, as well as front and rear parking sensors and a new colour 4.2-inch driver’s display in the centre of the dials, which incorporates a trip computer with fuel economy, trip and other information. The GXL is also already equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, satellite navigation and roof rails.

The mid-spec Land Cruiser VX, which is priced from $94,490, now includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, as well as a 360-degree camera system to aid off-road driving. This is on top of the leather trim, bi-LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers and an electric sunroof.
