The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition has been revived for the beginning of the 2018 model year, with the same spec upgrades offered as the previous Wolfsburg Edition. The Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition follows the launch of the Mk7.5 Golf R Wolfsburg Edition in both hatchback and wagon forms as a more bespoke offering to the Volkswagen range, and is limited to just 250 units.

Volkswagen is also using the launch of the new Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition to introduce some new technology to the Passat range, including a new 9.2-inch infotainment system. The new Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition is priced from $54,990 plus on-road costs.

Like the previous Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition, the new model adds extra equipment to the standard Passat Alltrack, including Black Nappa leather upholstery, Volkswagen’s Active Info Display, Adaptive Chassis Control including adaptive dampers, LED ambient interior lighting, a black headliner, brushed aluminium trim inserts, a piano black centre console and paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

The exterior of the new Passat Alltrack doesn’t escape the Wolfsburg Edition treatment either, with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, ‘premium’ LED tailights, tinted rear windows, a foot-activated electric bootlid and Wolfsburg Edition badging.

Volkswagen Australia has used the Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition to introduce new features to the Passat range, including the 9.2-inch ‘Discover Pro’ infotainment system with Gesture Control from the Golf 7.5 and MY18 Skoda Superb. Another USB port has been added in the front seat, bringing the total to two, whilst Volkswagen’s Media Control app-based control of the infotainment system from your smartphone, an easy entry/exit function for the electric driver’s seat and front and rear manoeuvre braking – though anybody scrolling the German Volkswagen configurator site will know that these features have been available for at least six months.

The Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg continues to use the standard Alltrack’s 140TDI drivetrain, using a 140kW/400Nm two-litre turbo diesel, with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The Passat wagon remains one of the most practical wagon choices around, with a 650-litre bootspace that opens up to 1,780-litres with the rear seats folded.

Like the previous Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition, only a $2,000 panoramic sunroof and $700 metallic paint are available as options. Colour options are limited to just three: Atlantic Blue, Manganese Grey (both metallic) and no-cost Pure White.
