2018 Kia Picanto GT-Line launched in Australia

After teasing the GT-Line styling in January and being teased by local Kia staff for months, the 2018 Kia Picanto GT-Line is officially on sale in Australia. Comprising of added equipment and a sharper look, the Picanto GT-Line gives the regular Picanto more attitude than it’s had before.

The Picanto GT-Line brings the Picanto offerings in Australia to two, and is priced from $17,490 drive away. According to Kia Australia, the GT-Line proves the company’s belief that some buyers desire more features in smaller cars.

“The Picanto GT-Line is just one more endorsement of our belief that there is a desire from the market for a practical, stylish and affordable car at that end of the market,” Kia Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith said.

“From the outset we were confident that there was opportunity in that micro segment, but it had to be the right car promoted in the right way. Picanto has proven that belief and the GT-Line is just one more way for us to support our original confidence.”

The Picanto GT-Line offers city car buyers access to more standard equipment than before in a Picanto, with 16-inch alloy wheels, GT-Line badging, faux leather seating and a steering wheel with red accents, alloy sports pedals, a six-speaker sound system, LED daytime running lights, tailights and front indicators, electric-folding mirrors with LED side indicators, front foglamps and a GT-Line bodykit with front, side and rear skirts and a dual exhaust tip.

This is on top of the regular Picanto’s long standard equipment list, including autonomous emergency braking, power mirrors and windows, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, a rear view camera with rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, automatic headlights and a rear foglamp. Like the standard Picanto, the GT-Line is equipped with a 1.25-litre three-cylinder engine, which produces 62kW of power and 122Nm of torque. In the GT-Line, it’s matched solely to a four-speed automatic transmission. Kia claims fuel consumption of 5.8L/100km, with CO2 emissions listed as 134g/km.
