2018 Volvo XC60 Australian pricing revealed

First revealed in March of this year at the Geneva Motor Show, Australian pricing and specifications for the 2018 Volvo XC60 have been revealed ahead of the car’s October local launch. Traditionally Volvo’s highest-selling car locally, the new XC60 will sneak in under $60,000 with a starting price of $59,990 plus on-road costs for the entry level D4 Momentum, ranging up to $92,990 for the T8 plug-in hybrid.

The new XC60 continues Volvo’s use of its range of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, with five different powertain options available, all matched to an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. Power outputs range from 140kW in the D4 to 300kW in the T8 plug-in hybrid. Like other Volvo models, tuning arm Polestar will also be offering performance packages for the XC60.

Just like larger Volvo models, the new XC60 will be available in three specification levels locally – the entry level Momentum, more luxurious Inscription and a sportier R-Line to cater for all types of mid-sizer luxury SUV buyer.

Standard equipment for the Momentum includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors with a 360-degree parking camera, dual-zone climate control, electric front seats with driver’s memory functionality and four-way electric lumbar support, a 12.3-inch driver’s display with DAB digital radio, blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking (front and rear), an alarm and tyre pressure monitoring.

The Momentum is available with two engines, a 140kW 2.0-litre turbo diesel dubbed D4 and a 187kW 2.0-litre turbo petrol dubbed T5. Fuel consumption is claimed as 5.4L/100km for the diesel, and 7.8L/100km for the petrol.

The next spec above the Momentum is the Inscription, which introduces a number of features to make the cabin of the new XC60 feel and feel more luxurious, such as high quality available trimmings and plusher floor mats. The Inscription adds features such as radar cruise control, 20-inch alloy wheels, a heads-up display, auto-dimming mirrors and quad-zone climate control air-conditioning.

The Inscription is available with the same drivetrains as the Momentum, and pricing starts $7000 higher than the Momentum, at $66,990 for the D4 and $69,990 for the T5.

Top of the local 2018 Volvo XC60 tree is the R-Design, which features a number of sporty design touches, including larger 21-inch alloy wheels, sportier bumpers, sports seats, a three-spoke R-Design steering wheel and unique R-Design leather upholstery.

The R-Design is also available with different engines, including a 173kW 2.0-litre turbo diesel D5, a 235kW 2.0-litre turbo and supercharged engine T6 and a T8 plug-in hybrid that takes the T6’s engine and adds an electric motor with 65kW. Fuel consumption is claimed as little as 2.1L/100km for the T8 plug-in hybrid, with the D5 claiming 5.6L/100km and the T6 claiming 8.0L/100km.

The second-generation Volvo XC60 launches in Australia in October, with local cars due for Volvo showrooms around then.
