Honda Australia has continued to add to its CR-V medium SUV range with the launch of the CR-V VTi-E, which is a new entry level seven-seat variant. Priced from $34,490 plus on-road costs, the VTI-E competes with seven seat variants of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail ranges.
Honda hopes that CR-V sales in Australia will be helped by this new variant, which increased by a huge 69.5 percent to 16,107 units in 2018 thanks to a new generation model and a warranty upgrade to five years as standard. The CR-V VTi-E is on sale now.
“CR-V has been a strong player in the 7-seat Medium SUV segment, consistently ranking first or second in private sales every month since its July 2017 launch”, said Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins.
“The introduction of the VTi-E provides Honda Customers an additional option for those looking for an attainable seven-seat option with family-friendly features such as leather seats, third-row ceiling air vents and two USB ports in the second row for electronic devices,” Mr. Collins said.
Standard equipment for the VTi-E includes seven leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-inch alloy wheels with a full size alloy spare wheel, an eight-way power driver’s seat, driver attention monitoring, keyless entry with push button start, front foglamps and tyre pressure monitoring.
Unfortunately, the front-wheel drive CR-V range is still not equipped with any active safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist or adaptive cruise control. Buyers of the all-wheel drive VTi-S and top spec VTi-LX receive some of those technologies as standard, though it’s worth noting that the whole Mazda CX-5 range receives the full active safety suite as standard, including a colour heads-up display, blind-spot monitoring, rear AEB and rear cross traffic alert – features not available to any CR-V in Australia.
