Hours ahead of the car’s official debut tonight, Italian publication Quattroruote have leaked these (low-resolution) images of the brand-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Mk 7.5. As expected, visual changes outside are only minimal, with the brand focussing on modernising the Golf’s interior as the Mark 7 generation approaches five years of age.
All Golfs will receive updated front and rear ends. At the front, the diffuser and bumper treatment has been updated with a lower, wider and more aggressive look. The headlight graphic have been updated marginally. LED running lights are integrated into the headlight shape in the now familiar VW two-box design.
Out back, the rear diffuser is now wider and the chrome exhaust tips appear larger. The taillight graphics, expected to be LED on all cars, are fresher.
Inside, changes are more dramatic. The too-small, 6.5-inch infotainment screen of the current Golf has been switched out in favour of a screen that appears to be about 8-inches in size, now glossy and flush with the centre console.
The software running on that screen appears very different to the current Volkswagen infotainment system, with a satellite view on the map alongside a phone call on the leaked photograph.
Volkswagen’s Active Information Display – the VW version of Audi Virtual Cockpit – is also clearly visible and will be a segment first.
The yellow vehicle is likely the new Golf GTI 7.5 – a new feature colour – and features more aggressive intakes, new wheels, and a restyled exhaust, foregoing dual circular outlets for dual trapezoidal replacements.
More information, including engine specifications, will be available after the official debut later tonight.
