2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty update – F250 hubs and 33 inch tyres from the factory

We can now also confirm the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty will come from the factory with 33-inch tyres. This is a big win for off-road enthusiasts.

While we’d love to show you everything there is to know about the soon to be revealed Ford Ranger Super Duty, we can’t. That’s because Ford Australia is teasing us all, releasing images and information a piece at a time. And fair play to them, hype is definitely building for the only vehicle outside of the F-Series range to wear the Super Duty name.

What we can reveal today however, is some pertinent information regarding the wheel hubs, wheels and size of the tyres fitted to the Ranger Super Duty. So far, the specs look genuinely rugged too. Starting with factory fitted off-road friendly all-terrain tyres in a very usable size.

33-inch tyres

We can now also confirm the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty will come from the factory with 33-inch tyres. This is a big win for off-road enthusiasts. Not only is a 33-inch tyre a great size for general touring and off-roading, this means in most states, you’ll be able to run an even larger 35-inch tyre legally.

A 50mm tyre diameter increase is considered a roadworthy modification in most parts of Australia. For those who want the tougher look or are planning to tackle more technical terrain, a set of 35’s is a big advantage.

The tyres appear to be an all-terrain or hybrid tread pattern. Considering the amount of load this vehicle can carry, I’d also guess these will feature a Light Truck construction. But at this stage, I’m speculating. Still, it would be cool to see another Ford roll out of the showroom with off-road capable rubber, as per the Ranger Raptor.

18-inch wheels

Ford have also announced that the Ranger Super Duty will be rolling on a set of 18-inch wheels. They have also specified that this wheel will be constructed from steel. Steel wheels have been long regarded as a solid option for four-wheel drives, namely for their ability to be reshaped with a blunt object after serious impact, where alloy wheel tends to crack rather than bend when pushed too far. But you really need to push too far…

It is unsure at this stage if an alloy wheel option will be offered, we will confirm when more information comes to light.

Heavy-duty F250 8-stud hubs

There has been speculation in recent days that the Ford Ranger Super Duty will be fitted with 8-stud wheels. Internet sleuths have been debating the origins of these wheel hubs, which will offer more strength compared to say the Ford Ranger’s offering.

Thankfully we can put these rumours to bed and confirm these 8-stud hubs have been borrowed from the Ford F-250 parts bin.

This is good news for those seeking a beefed up wheel option for tough off-roading as well as load carrying ability. It’s a proven off-the shelf part too, meaning you won’t need to order a bespoke part down the track should there be an issue.

Not that you’d expect there to be an issue, take a look at the supplied image and you can see the studs used are simply beefy in comparison to other four-wheel drives on the market.

What Ford has to say

“The eight-stud configuration offers a significant advantage in terms of load capacity and ensures an even distribution of weight across the wheel,” said Drew O’Shannassy, Ranger Super Duty Engineering Program Supervisor.

“This is important for a vehicle like Ranger Super Duty which will be expected to frequently carry and tow heavy loads. The wheel and tyre we’ve selected provide a great combination of strength, grip and reliability that our hard-working customers need. Our testing is pushing this vehicle to the limit so that customers can be confident in its capability.”

Stay tuned

We’re expecting to see the Ford Ranger Super Duty in Australia and New Zealand sometime in 2026. Until then, we will continue to update you with information as it comes to hand. You can also expect a full upcoming review of the Ranger Super Duty when the vehicle lands on Australia soil.
