While the five-seat Volkswagen Tiguan has fallen victim 4Motion all-wheel drive system shortages, the larger Allspace remains unaffected
Volkswagen Australia has announced second quarter supply for its Tiguan midsize SUV, revealing healthy supply in some variants, and dwindling stocks in others.
According to the brand’s local arm, supply is set to improve for the Tiguan 110TSI Life, something that compliments the already-healthy Tiguan Allspace stock.
As a big player in the popular midsize SUV segment, both the Tiguan and the Tiguan Allspace face stiff competition from the likes of the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and the Kia Sportage.
Due to a lack of 4Motion (Volkswagen’s all-wheel drive system), orders for the Tiguan 132TSI, 147TDI and 162TSI NWB have been paused until further notice. This is expected to continue from the second quarter of 2023 onwards.
Despite this, local dealers still have some models in stock , with 3572 units between the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace in 132TSI, 147TDI, and 162TSI guise.
It was also noted that the Tiguan 132TSI is in stock and available at $49,990 before on-road costs. This price includes three years free servicing, and is on offer until the 31 of March.
On top of this, stock numbers are still said to be healthy for the Tiguan Monochrome and five-seat Tiguan Allspace Adventure, both of which were bought in to avoid parts shortages.
It’s also worth noting that the Tiguan 110TSI Life is exclusively front-wheel drive, meaning it doesn’t need a 4Motion system. This is likely why supply on this model is set to improve.
On the high-performance Tiguan R front, Volkswagen Australia has paused orders, citing high demand as the main reason.
Despite orders closing for the five-seat Tiguan, the seven-seat Allspace remains unaffected.
So those that are after a Tiguan should look at snapping up one in local dealer stock, and those looking for an Allspace shouldn’t be too concerned.
