Originating in the United Kingdom, performance parts supplier Mountune will help keep the aftermarket performance car scene alive in Australia
Mountune, the UK company known for offering aftermarket tunes and modification items for hot hatchbacks, is bringing its brand to Australia and New Zealand for the very first time.
The company has launched its local website – www.mountune.com.au – and will sell a variety of parts and kits to help make OEM hot hatches a touch more sharp and potent to drive.
Mountune has already developed a series of performance parts for a variety of vehicles. Although the company is known for modifying Ford performance cars, Mountune also specialises in Volkswagen Group products, too.
David Mountain, Mountune’s founder, said that Australia and New Zealand was the natural next step.
“We’re delighted to announce our formal expansion into the Asia Pacific market with our new Australian facility.
“Having already had a long-standing relationship with customers in the region, as well as a period where our upgrade packages were imported and endorsed by Ford Australia dealers, establishing a physical base ‘down under’ was the natural next step,” Mr Mountain said.
Even as car manufacturers begin to step away from the performance hatchback segment, there is still a passionate group of Australians who own and admire such cars.
Currently, Mountune offers upgrades for Ford and Volkswagen Group cars in Australia.
The Ford performance sector includes Ford Fiesta ST, Ford Focus ST, Focus RS and Ford Puma, while on the Volkswagen Group side of things, Mountune sells parts for Golf GTI and R, as well as the Audi S3.
Available parts from Mountune include flash tunes (which essentially rewrites the engine mapping), air intake systems, braking systems and brake pads, inlet manifolds, exhaust systems and suspension upgrades, just to name a few.
Some quirky upgrades include a set of mudflaps, billet oil dipsticks with Mountune written on them and a Mountune centre console insert.
