The inclusion of Genesis Connected Services headlines this GV60 update less than a year after it was introduced to Australia
Genesis Australia has announced a tech-heavy update for the GV60 electric SUV alongside hitting both variants in the local lineup with $4000 price hikes.
Now priced from $107,700 before on-road costs, the GV60 range still consists of two variants; the entry-level AWD, and the AWD Performance at $114,700 before on-road costs.
Once on the ground, it’s likely that this updated GV60 will face competition from the likes of the Volvo C40 Recharge, the Tesla Model Y, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the electric midsize SUV segment.
Considering that the GV60 was only introduced to Australia last year, it makes sense that no changes have been made to the SUV’s exterior. Instead, this update has focused on improving the technology and connectivity of the SUV.
Headlining this update is the inclusion of the Genesis Connected Services, which brings with it over-the-air vehicle system updates, and smartphone control via an app.
It also will let drivers use facial recognition to unlock the GV60, and then use a fingerprint scanner to start the vehicle.
On the paint front, Capri Blue Mica replaces Adriatic Blue Mica, and Makalu Grey Metallic replaces Himalayan Grey Metallic and Melbourne Grey Matte. Sao Paulo Lime has been dropped as an option completely.
It’s also worth noting that matte paint comes at a $2,000 premium over the purchase price.
On the driving front, a pair of paddles have been added behind the steering wheel that reportedly add “a new layer of driver involvement” through simulated sequential gear shifting.
Like the exterior, the GV60’s powertrain specifications have remained unchanged from the models introduced last year.
The GV60 range starts with the GV60 AWD, which makes use of a dual-motor, all-wheel drive system producing 234kW/605Nm.
The range-topping AWD Performance grade takes a significant step up with the top-end GV60 running a 360kW/700Nm tune from the same dual-motor powertrain setup as the base car.
Both variants get a 77.4kWh battery pack installed that will feed power to the onboard electric motors.
