The all-wheel-drive 450e packs 230kW and will have a driving range off up to 400km off a single charge
Lexus Australia has released pricing for its all-electric RZ 450e SUV, which will go on sale in two grades initially.
Pricing starts at $123,000 for the Luxury, and $135,000 for the Sports Luxury, with both figures before on-road costs are added.
When the RX 450e goes on sale, it’ll likely face competition from the likes of the Tesla Model Y, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV6.
As the first Lexus vehicle to sit on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, it makes use of a 64kWh (usable) battery.
Range is pegged at about 400km on the fairly accurate WLTP standard that is used in Europe.
Though a maximum charging rate is yet to be provided for the RZ, it’s likely that it will share the Toyota BZ4X’s maximum DC rate of 147kW, meaning it can be charged from 10-80 percent in around 30 minutes.
In terms of performance, the RZ 450e will come with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system as standard in Australia. Peak power sits at 230kW for this system, meaning that it will likely possess better performance than the 150kW Toyota BZ4X with which it shares its platform.
With an identical powertrain, the differences between the RZ 450e Luxury and Sports Luxury can be found in the standard kit they’re offered with.
At $123,000, the Luxury gets 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, rear privacy glass and heated side mirrors.
Moving to inside, a 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto is standard, as is a 10-speaker Panasonic sound system, and a wireless phone charging pad.
Making the jump to the $135,000 Sports Luxury adds larger 20-inch alloy wheels and two-tone paint.
Inside, the Sports Luxury model gets touch-sensitive steering wheel controls, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and a 14-speaker Mark Levison speaker system.
