After much anticipation, MG Australia has announced that its first electric sportscar will be priced from $115,000 before on-road costs
MG’s first all-electric sports car, the Cyberster, will land in Australia this year and has been officially priced from $115,000 before on-road costs.
That makes the Cyberster more affordable and quicker than the outgoing manual Porsche 718 Boxster ($135,100). The Cyberster has successfully managed to beat the electric 718 successor to market.
Available in a single high-spec guise, the Cyberster will produce 375kW of power thanks to dual electric motors. The front motor produces 150kW, while the rear produces 250kW. Combined maximum torque is 725Nm.
MG claims the Cyberster will be able to sprint to 100km/h in a very sprightly 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 208km/h.
Powering the Cyberster is a 77kWh battery pack to allow for an estimated range of 443km (WLTP).
The Cyberster rides on the same Modular Scalable Platform as the MG4 electric hatchback which is also sold on Australian shores.
It’s unclear how many Cybersters will come to Australia, but MG Australia has confirmed that 30 percent of the first shipment has already been sold from its list of pre-orders.
As standard, the Cyberster will feature the following equipment:
Five exterior colours will be available for the Cyberster, including English White, Sterling Silver Metallic, Camden Grey Metallic, Diamond Red Metallic and Royal Yellow Premium.
A choice of a white and grey, or black and red interior will also be available.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
