All active Polestar markets worldwide, including Australia, are now able to reserve a build slot for the sleek Polestar 6 sports car
Polestar has announced it will put its EV roadster concept into production, calling it the Polestar 6.
Australians are now able to reserve a build slot for the new electric sports car on the Polestar website. It’ll cost Aussies USD$25,000 (est. A$35,700) to reserve and won’t be built until 2026. The Polestar 6’s full cost is forecast to be USD$200,000 (A$286,000 at the time of writing) according to the local importer.
The new convertible sports car builds on the technology found in the current Polestar 2, the upcoming Polestar 4 SUV and the Polestar 5 four-door GT car.
“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” said Polestar’s chief executive officer Thomas Ingenlath.
“Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”
The Polestar 6 is a new EV roadster fitted with a hardtop folding roof for top-down enjoyment.
It’ll be built upon a unique Polestar bonded aluminium platform and will be capable of providing outputs of up to 650KW/900Nm, which could make the model as fast as the planned Tesla Roadster.
Tesla claims that its future roadster will be “the quickest car in the world”, with an estimated 0-100km/h time of just 2.1 seconds. However, production is still yet to begin for the Tesla sports car.
Some 500 units of the Polestar LA Concept edition will be produced, incorporating a unique sky blue exterior, plush leather interior and unique 21-inch alloy wheels.
The Polestar 6 will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which you can find more information about here.
