Confirming that the latest supercar on the block will remain highly exclusive, the price of the 2017 Honda NSX has been confirmed as $420,000 before on-road costs.
The announcement follows the arrival of a local NSX test car in Melbourne.
That’s before adding a colour beyond the three solid swatches. Metallic paint will add $1,500 – or premium paint, including the halo Valencia Red Pearl, which will cost $10,000.
The NSX is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, boosted further with electrification. The total output of the hybrid setup is 427kW.
The V6 alone produces 550Nm of torque between 2,000 and 6,000rpm – but it’s the additional 293Nm of instant torque from the electric motors that gives the NSX a 0-100km/h time of less than three seconds.
You’ll be able to buy an NSX through one of five Honda dealers in Australia: Scotts Honda in Sydney’s Artarmon, Yarra Honda in Melbourne’s Collingwood, Austral Honda in Brisbane’s Newstead, Nordic Honda in Adelaide’s Glen Osmond, and Burswood Honda in Perth.
Honda have confirmed that dealerships have received orders for the vehicle but won’t put a firm number on it.
The brand is confident that the arrival of the NSX will add fuel to Honda’s resurgence in the minds of consumers as a ‘technology and engineering company’ able to deliver everything from well-packaged small cars to supercars.
Australian NSX deliveries will start toward the end of 2016.
