The X2 looks quite a bit different for 2024, and has been priced in Australia from $75,900
Here it is, the all-new, second-generation BMW X2 SUV which is set to arrive in Australia during the first quarter of 2024.
Introduced alongside the all-electric iX2, which you can read about in our separate article, the petrol-powered X2 will be available in two variants and will be priced locally from $75,900 before on-road costs for the entry xDrive20i.
The flagship combustion X2 M35i xDrive SUV, meanwhile, will cost buyers $92,900 before on-road costs. The all-electric iX2 variant is yet to be priced for the Australian market, but it is expected to be announced in late October 2023.
The new second-generation X2 range is a strong departure aesthetically on the exterior from the first-generation F39 X2 and, in terms of dimensions, has grown by 194mm in length, 21mm in width and 64mm in height.
The X2 is strongly related to the current BMW X1 and iX1 which sit upon the UKL2 platform which is not a purpose-built EV-only architecture.
BMW is promising 560 litres of boot space for the combustion X2 SUV, which can expand up to 1470 litres with the second row seats folded flat.
BMW Australia says that the all-electric iX2 SUV coupe will help grow the brand’s electric offering to 13 variants locally.
The entry-level BMW X2 xDXrive20i will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 150kW of power and 300Nm of torque. This variant’s powertrain is mated to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Next up is the more potent BMW X2 M35i XDrive that is powered by a 233kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated once again to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, rather than the company’s famed eight-speed ZF transmission.
