Kia set to reveal EV4 and concept vehicles

  • Kia is gearing up for their second EV Day, which takes place later this month in Spain. This event follows from Kia’s first EV day held in Korea back in 2023.
  • Kia’s 2025 EV Day will house the global reveal of the Kia EV4, which was originally showcased as a concept at the 2023 EV Day.

  • As well as the Kia EV4, Kia is expected to present the PV5 and a new concept vehicle, the EV2.
  • This event is also where Kia will share strategies for the future, namely their role as a Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV). Kia’s leadership team is also expected to reveal the companies plans for expanded electrification.

  • Chasing Cars staff recently spotted this Audi A5 Avant Market Evaluation vehicle while on a road test.
  • The vehicle was spotted on M7 highway in Sydney, without camouflage, and in left hand drive configuration.

  • By doing a search of the vehicle’s registration, we can see it is a 2024 model, that weighs 1828kg and had approximately 5071km on the clock when registered in December 2024.
  • Rumours suggest we will see the production version of the Audi A5 Avant on sale in Australia in the next few months.

Ford and GM at odds over US tariffs

  • It seems the word on most vehicle manufacturers’ minds is tariffs. Ford and GM also have different reactions to the tariff plan Donald Trump has in place.
  • When asked at an industry event in the States, Ford CEO Jim Farley, and GM CEO Marry Barra offered completely different attitudes towards Trump’s tariffs.
  • President Trump has talked a lot about making our U.S. auto industry stronger, bringing more production here, more innovation to the U.S. and if this administration can achieve that, it would be, I think, one of the most signature accomplishments. So far, what we’re seeing is a lot of cost and a lot of chaos,” said Mr Farley
  • Alternatively Mary Barra believes GM can handle up to 50% of the impact of these tariffs without seeking additional capital. “ We are prepared when we know exactly what’s going to happen. Of course, if tariffs are longer, there’s additional things that we’ve studied that we know we can do from a capital-efficient way,” said Barra.
