More details emerge for the 150kW electric Omoda E5 SUV that will launch locally by mid 2024
Chery Australia has today confirmed that it will bring a fully-electric version of its existing Omoda 5 small SUV to Australia this year.
Named the Omoda E5, the Chinese brand’s first electric SUV for Australia is due on our shores by the middle of 2024.
The Chery Omoda E5 will join several new affordable electric SUVs, such as the BYD Atto 3 and upcoming BYD Seal U, along with mainstays such as the current MG ZS EV.
Chery’s first electric vehicle for Australia will join its combustion cousin, the Omoda 5 small SUV, as well as the Tiggo 7 Pro midsize SUV and the upcoming Tiggo 8 Pro Max due in April 2024
Exact pricing for Australian-delivered Omoda E5s is set to be announced shortly.
Starting out with the powertrain and battery, the Omoda E5 will use a single electric motor located on the front axle that produces outputs of 150kW/340Nm.
The new Omoda E5 is set to feature a 61kWh battery pack and will be able to travel up to a claimed 430km (WLTP) on a single charge.
