Early adopters of the Cupra Formentor to be rewarded with surprise arrival of first 50 customer deliveries in Launch Edition spec
Originally slated for Australian release in July 2022, a small number of Cupra Formentor midsize SUVs will be available for presale in May 2022 as a surprise reward for early adopters.
Known as the Cupra Formentor Launch Edition (LE), the May 2022 drop will include about 50 examples of the high-specification Formentor VZx – with the regular model’s optional Brembo brakes included – for a driveaway price of $69,990.
From the early allocation of 50 Formentors for Australia, 40 units will be painted in graphene grey, but 10 will feature petrol blue matte paintwork for an additional $1825 fee.
Like the Formentor VZx that it is based upon, the Formentor LE uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine with outputs of 228kW of power and 400Nm of torque. A seven-speed wet-clutch DSG automatic is standard, as is a Haldex-type AWD system.
19-inch wheels in black/copper are standard fit along with a petrol blue leather interior with power driver seat adjustment and memory, plus a nine-speaker Beats stereo. You also get a power tailgate and quad exhaust tips.
There will also be high-spec Launch Editions of the Cupra Ateca small SUV (also priced at $69,990 driveaway), and the Leon hot hatch ($67,990 driveaway).
Regular Formentor grades, ranging from the base Formentor V ($54,990 driveaway) to the top-tier Formentor VZx ($66,490 driveaway) will arrive in Australia as planned in July or August.
Aside from the petrol blue matte paint, the Formentor LE can’t be ‘optioned’ further, but the VZx arriving later can be had with Brembo brakes (included on the LE, regularly $4150), matte paint ($2300), premium metallic paint ($475), and a panoramic sunroof ($2100).
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
