Based on the Ranger XLT workhorse, this new Tremor shares a plethora of parts with the recently announced Wildtrak X
Ford has revealed the off-road focused Ranger Tremor for its European markets, though Australia is unlikely to receive this tough new grade.
Based on the popular XLT, the Tremor builds upon this base with a plethora of mechanical upgrades that feature on the Wildtrak X.
As a capable off-road ute but not the flagship grade, the Ranger Tremor would likely compete with utes like the Nissan Navara SL Warrior and Isuzu D-Max LS-U if it was sold in Australia.
The Tremor makes use of a 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that makes 153kW and 500Nm of torque. The ten-speed automatic transmission is paired with a full-time four-wheel drive system.
Like the Wildtrak X, the Ranger Tremor sits on monotube Bilstein dampers with position sensors and external reservoirs. It also gets a set of 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres wrapped around them.
As for practicality, the Ford’s flexible rack system will also be an option above the tray.
This clever accessory was recently introduced to the local range, and it effectively acts as a sports bar that can be slid out by a single person to the end of the tailgate to carry longer loads.
Ford also notes that the Tremor features a wider stance, but doesn’t stipulate how much wider it is. Considering that it uses the same suspension system as the Wildtrak X, it’s likely that the Tremor is 30mm wider and 26mm higher than a standard Ranger.
On the inside, the Tremor features a water-resistant vinyl trim. It also gets a pre-wired overhead switch pack that is able to be used with winches, light bars, and other accessories.
Chasing Cars has reached out to Ford Australia for comment regarding the Ranger Tremor’s local availability. This article will be updated if a response is received.
