Piloted by the one and only Keiichi Tsuchiya, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will make its first Australian appearance on September 1
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is set to make its first Aussie public appearance on September 1st at Sydney Motorsport Park for the World Time Attack event.
As the founder of the D1 Drift Grand Prix and one of the inspiring figures of early drifting, Keiichi Tsuchiya will take the reins of the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N on track in a series of displays.
Four – likely smokey – demonstrations will be done by Tsuchiya on both Friday September 1st and Saturday September 2nd.
Hyundai Australia has confirmed that the Ioniq 5 N is set to go on sale locally towards the end of 2024 before deliveries begin in early 2024.
Hyundai has recently pulled the covers off its new Ioniq 5 N performance EV which will use dual electric motors front and rear to produce a combined 478kW of power.
Key features for the Ioniq 5 N will include a Drift Optimiser to rate your skills on the racetrack, a drift ‘clutch’ kick function to help initiate a slide and also an Active Sound + system that engages a “symphony of high performance sound and immersive driving noises”.
Although the Ioniq 5 N is completely electric, Hyundai’s N division has also integrated virtual gear shifts to make the driving experience more raw.
Also standard will be forged 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres, an electronic limited-slip rear differential and electronically-controlled suspension.
Massive 400mm front brake discs will feature, along with unique N styling inside and out.
