Pricing for the limited edition GT-Line front-drive Kia Seltos has been announced, starting from $38,790 before on-roads
Australian buyers will be able to get into a top-specification Kia Seltos GT-Line for $3910 less than before – if they’re willing to swap the car’s 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with AWD for a front-wheel drive naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre unit.
Chasing Cars can reveal that pricing for the Seltos GT-Line FWD limited edition has been confirmed at $38,790 before on-road costs. We estimate that the Seltos GT-Line will receive a national driveaway price of $41,380, though this is subject to last-minute changes.
The new limited edition GT-Line will be priced from $38,790 before on-road costs, which is around $5000 more expensive than a Kia Seltos Sport+ but $3910 less than the GT-Line with the 1.6-litre turbo engine, all-wheel drive (AWD) and a dual-clutch automatic.
Effectively, the GT-Line FWD has less power and torque than the turbocharged version, but a lot more equipment than the Seltos Sport+ grade that sits below it in the lineup.
While the standard Kia Seltos GT-Line is fitted with a 130kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive, the new version will use a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 110kW of power and 180Nm of torque. The transmission in the FWD car is a CVT, instead of the seven-speed dual-clutch in the turbo model.
The 2.0-litre engine can be found across the range of current Seltos models as well in the Hyundai Elantra, Kia Sportage and the Kia Cerato.
This engine will power the front wheels exclusively through a CVT transmission and will have a combined fuel economy of 6.8L/100km.
The Kia Seltos GT-Line Limited Edition comes standard with 18-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7.0-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, LED headlights, ten-way power driver’s seat, eight-way power passenger seat and remote engine start, head up display, satellite navigation and a heated steering wheel.
Safety features including AEB, junction assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, cyclist recognition, driver alert system, forward collision warning, lane follow and keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.
To compare, the existing GT-Line AWD has the same array of features but uses an all-wheel drive drivetrain and turbocharged four cylinder – likely the reason for the price premium.
The GT-Line gains several features over the Sport+ variant, including a larger and more powerful eight-speaker Bose sound system, a larger 7.0-inch instrument cluster (up from a 3.5-inch on the Sport+), a heated steering wheel, a power sunroof, rains sensing front wipers and electric front seats (10-way for driver, eight-way for front passenger).
Interestingly, the standard paint colour is non-metallic Starbright Yellow which is a no-cost option, however all other colours are an additional $520. These include Mars Orange, Snow White Pearl, Neptune Blue and Gravity Grey.
All prices listed are before on-road costs, with the current national driveaway prices in brackets.
