The hardcore track version of the upcoming Lotus Emira sports car has been priced at $299,990 before on road costs in Australia
Lotus has announced pricing for the most track-focussed version of the Emira sports car that is due in Australia late in 2022.
The Emira GT4 will be priced from $299,990 before any on-road costs, freight or additional options, making it significantly more expensive than the road-focussed Emira First Edition V6 that costs $184,990.
If you’re a fan of the Emira and want a GT4 version of your own, a $70,000 deposit is required to secure a build slot.
The high performance variant of the Lotus Emira range features the same Toyota-sourced 3.5-litre V6 engine which is matched with a Harrop TVS 1900 supercharger kit but produces 298kW of power.
The GT4 will use a completely different transmission to the road-going Emira. Instead of a manual or automatic transmission, the GT4 will be fitted with a paddle-operated xTrac sequential gearbox and a limited slip differential.
18-inch alloy wheels will be covered in 265-section Pirelli GT4 rubber at the front and 305-section hoops at the rear.
The GT4 will be considerably lighter than the standard Emira, too, weighing in at just 1260kg. That’s more than 100kg lighter than the ‘regular’ version, despite the presence of a roll cage and additional safety apparatus, such as a fire extinguisher. The interior has been significantly decontented in other areas.
Global production of the GT4 is set to begin in the first quarter of 2022, with cars likely to reach Australia late in 2022 or early 2023.
It is not yet known whether this GT car will be road-registrable in Australia.
