Mazda’s ute offering in Australia is getting an overhaul for 2025 with more tech and greater safety
Mazda Australia has confirmed it will bring an updated BT-50 ute to the Australian market in the first quarter of 2025.
Australia is the number one market for BT-50 globally, so to celebrate, the Japanese automaker will bring changes seen first with its cousin, the Isuzu D-Max, to the BT-50 next year.
Key highlights include a revised front end design with new grille, bumper, LED headlights and bold badging to bring the ute more in line with Mazda’s CX design philosophy.
At the rear, another large Mazda badge features along with new LED tail lights.
Mazda has also thrown a suite of new technologies into the BT-50, including a 9.0-inch centre touchscreen and a 7.0-inch instrument cluster for the driver.
USB-C ports will debut for the first time, also. Wireless Android Auto will now be standard, joining the existing wireless Apple CarPlay.
The brand has also listened to feedback surrounding piano black plastic and has instead gone for matte finishes inside the BT-50’s cabin.
For the off-road enthusiasts, Mazda has followed Isuzu in implementing what it calls rough terrain mode, an excellent off-road tool we have tested here at Chasing Cars with the current D-Max.
In terms of safety, the BT-50 now features several enhancements, including a rear cross traffic assist, AEB with motorcycle detection, enhanced lane keep assist, and a new reversing camera.
Official pricing and variant lineup information will be announced closer to launch.
