The Nissan Concept 20-23 is a small EV that has made its debut in celebration of Nissan Design Europe’s 20th birthday
Is this the next Nissan Micra?
Nissan has pulled the covers off its Concept 20-23, a small electric vehicle that could be the next iteration of the popular Micra small car.
With bold racecar-like styling and a very racing-inspired interior, the Concept 20-23 could be the most performance-ready Micra ever made.
With a 100kW electric motor and sharing its new CMF-BEV platform with the upcoming Renault 5 and Alpine model, the Concept 20-23 is set to have an estimated 400 kilometres of electric range.
Being a small EV, the concept could be a serious rival for the likes of the Fiat 500e and the Mini Cooper Electric hatch.
Photos of the concept show plenty of aerodynamic features such as a rear wing and aggressive front splitters, while inside there are racing buckets and proper harnesses to hold you in tight. Gullwing doors feature, just like a Lamborghini Aventador.
Will the production vehicle look anything like the concept? It’s unlikely to be as wild, however this is a great sign of what’s to come for the Nissan brand in the next couple of years.
A production version is expected sometime in 2024.
The third-generation K13 Nissan Micra finished up in Australia in 2016 and was not replaced by the most recent fourth-generation K14 model as demand for small cars decreased.
The K14 was powered by a mix of engines, including a very small 898cc turbocharged three-cylinder unit and was built on the same platform as the Renault Clio and Captur models. It was available in many European markets.
The current K14 Micra, built in France, finished its production run in 2022, with the model’s future in doubt.
However, this new Concept 20-23 concept could be the revival that people have been waiting for.
