Ram has released photos of its new all-electric ute and it looks a lot like the concept released earlier in the year
Ram Truck has released new images of its first all-electric pickup truck, the Ram 1500 REV, that will be a direct competitor to the Ford F-150 Lightning.
The large-size ute looks a lot like the Ram 1500 Revolution concept that was announced earlier in the year, with a light-up front-mounted Ram badge clearly visible.
The model made its grand entrance during an advertisement played throughout the US telecast of the 2023 NFL Superbowl.
Ram says production for the 1500 REV will begin sometime in 2024.
While the Ram brand is sold here in Australia, any electrified model has not been confirmed for our market.
The Ram 1500 REV, as it’s now called, will sit upon a Stellantis-based platform.
US media outlet Car and Driver have reported that the 1500 REV will sit upon a new STLA Frame electric platform, rather than the existing platform underpinning ICE versions of the Ram that are sold in Australia.
STLA Frame will be one of four new Stellantis electric platforms, alongside STLA Small, STLA Medium and STLA Large.
Ram has not revealed technical specs for its new electric ute just yet, however Stellantis previously announced that the STLA Frame platform will be capable of providing up to 800km of range per charge.
Stellantis also stated that the STLA platforms are capable of producing up to 330kW of power depending on the specification, however we could easily see a 300kW+ dual-motor Ram 1500 REV announced later this year.
For reference, a Ford F-150 Lightning produces up to 430kW of power, however the entry-level variant produces 337kW – these could be benchmark figures for the electric Ram.
We unfortunately don’t have a car to compare the Ram 1500 REV to, as it will be the first to ride on this STLA Frame platform.
