Offering a beefier version of the entry-level Kamiq, the 110TSI Ambition will arrive in Australia very shortly amid severe stock shortages in Australia.
Skoda has announced it will bring an entry-level version of the Kamiq 110TSI to Australia amid severe stock shortages of the range opening 85TSI variants.
The new variant will be badged the Kamiq 110TSI Ambition and will sit below the Monte Carlo and Limited Edition grades – with the 85TSI not available to order until later this year.
Fitted under the bonnet is a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine that is relatively beefy for a car this size with 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque on tap.
It’s a notable upgrade over the 85TSI Kamiq, which uses a turbocharged 1.0L three-pot to produce 85kW and 200Nm.
Skoda has yet to pair the more powerful engine to the six-speed manual in Australia, instead fitting a snappy seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to direct power to the front wheels.
The new entry grade will help to bridge a gap between the auto-equipped Kamiq 85TSI priced at $29,990 driveaway and the more heavily equipped Kamiq Monte Carlo at $36,990 driveaway.
Kurt McGuiness, the PR manager at Skoda Australia told Chasing Cars the Kamiq 110TSI Ambition was expected to arrive imminently and more details would be released soon.
The new model is expected to closely resemble the impressive level of specification from the existing Kamiq 85TSI Ambition, which drew praise from us in our review.
Some of these key features include a power tailgate, touch sensitive entry, LED taillights, wireless charging, manual lumbar support for the driver, and a sporty flat bottom steering wheel.
