The popular small off-roader is set to gain a five-door variant this year in Australia to join the iconic three-door
Suzuki has announced that it will release a five-door version of its iconic small four-wheel drive, the Jimny, and the best news is that it will be available in Australia this year.
According to numerous reports, including overseas channels such as Autocar, the new five-door variant of the Suzuki will be launched in markets including Africa, India, Latin America and, most importantly, Australia.
The five-door variant will run on the same ladder frame chassis as before, however the model has grown in length to accommodate the extra two doors.
It’s expected that the five-door Jimny will arrive in Suzuki showrooms here in Australia around the fourth quarter of this year. Local pricing is yet to be announced.
The Suzuki Jimny in new five-door guise is now considerably longer than the three-door version, measuring in at 3985mm long, 1645mm wide and 1720mm tall. The five-door version also sits on a 340mm longer wheelbase.
In comparison, a three-door Jimny measures in at 3480mm long, but is identical in width and height.
In terms of powertrain, the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine found in the three-door Jimny will remain, with no power or torque bumps announced.
Just like the three-door, a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission will be available for the five-door at launch.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
