Tesla has trimmed prices on its standard- and long-range Model 3s for Australia, now starting at $59,900 before on-road costs
Tesla has shaved some money off the Tesla Model 3’s asking price for 2022, with the standard rear-wheel drive variant now selling for $59,900 before on-road costs.
Range has also been extended for the entry-level car, which can now travel 491km on a full charge according to the WLTP cycle – up from the 430km previously offered.
The Long Range AWD Model 3 boosts that range significantly to 614km (WLTP) and starts at $73,200 before on-road costs.
Performance Model 3s offer 567km of WLTP range but also more power and torque, and the ability to shoot to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds (compared to 4.4sec for the AWD and 6.1sec for the rear-drive). This Model 3 flagship starts at $84,900 before on-road costs.
In the standard Model 3, owners receive 18-inch alloy wheels, a tinted glass roof, power-folding side mirrors, electric front seats, 15-inch touchscreen with bluetooth, navigation and app integration, wireless phone charging, four USB-C ports and premium vegan upholstery.
The Long Range AWD adds larger 19-inch wheels, a 14-speaker sound system, heated rear seats, LED front fog lights and interior floor mats.
The Model 3 Performance includes 20-inch turbine-style alloy wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tyres, performance brakes, carbon fibre rear lip spoiler, a ‘Track’ drive mode, alloy pedals and lowered suspension.
Options include full self-driving ($10,100), black and white interior ($1500) and black, blue or silver exterior paint ($1500).
All Model 3s are fitted with dual front, side, and head-protecting curtain airbags. In 2019, the Model 3 scored a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
The Tesla Model 3 is fitted with an ‘autopilot’ semi-autonomous driving system which includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.
An optional ‘self-driving’ package can be purchased for $10,100 which includes autopilot navigation, auto lane change, auto parking, and traffic light and stop sign recognition.
