Toyota RAV4 buyers keen to jump straight into a facelifted 2022 hybrid model with no wait could be satisfied by the new Edge grade
Chasing Cars understands that Toyota’s new range-topping RAV4 Edge Hybrid ($52,320) will land in Australia in January with next to no wait times for buyers who place their order now.
The reason for this is the fact that the Edge hybrid is a brand new model which was not able to be ordered by customers until last week when pricing for the facelifted 2022 Toyota RAV4 range was announced.
The uber-popular RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid grade (from $45,000) is a different story, however, with wait times continuing to extend out to 11 months in some cases. The longest current indicative wait time for a Cruiser Hybrid Chasing Cars has seen documentation for is 14 months.
If you’re not tied to the luxury-spec Cruiser variant, the Edge Hybrid might just be the next best thing, though it will cost you $4320 more than a Cruiser AWD.
The Edge is the range topping model for the RAV4 range and is packed full of features to make it the ultimate family SUV.
First off, the Edge Hybrid will be powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine with electric assistance and will produce 163kW in its all-wheel drive only specification.
The Cruiser that sits beneath the Edge Hybrid in the lineup can be ordered with 2WD, which makes 160kW from its engine and front electric motor combination.
The Edge Hybrid is highly specified and builds on what is already available on the lower models, but features larger matte grey 19-inch alloy wheels, an optional panoramic sunroof ($1300), an 8.0-inch touchscreen 7.0inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging and smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android phones.
It is worth noting that the Edge does lose power adjustment for the front passenger seat, which could come in handy for taller passengers looking for extra headroom.
As a brand new model along with the XSE, which we have covered in detail here, the Edge Hybrid will be available in January alongside the rest of the range.
