Same 221kW turbo all-wheel-drive powertrain, but for $5000 less
The new Volkswagen T-Roc R will gain a cheaper variant when it launches shortly in Australia.
The T-Roc R Grid Edition will cost $54,300 before on-road costs – $5000 less than the full-blown R variant.
The new edition will retain the same 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine linked to Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
You will be able to tell the difference between the two thanks to graphite 19-inch Pretoria alloy wheels and black roof rails on the new T-Roc R Grid Edition.
Inside, Volkswagen has swapped out the Nappa leather upholstery with cloth and microfleece seats.
Like the T-Roc R’s bigger sibling, the Tiguan R, both will wear the Grid Edition badge to signify the limited series.
The only option available for the T-Roc R Grid Edition will be a $2000 panoramic sunroof.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
