Monochrome edition, Allspace Adventure and R Grid Edition to join Australian line-up
Volkswagen will add Allspace Adventure, Monochrome and R Grid special editions to its Tiguan line-up in Australia for early 2023.
Here’s what they all get.
Exclusive to the Australian market, the Adventure variant of the Tiguan Allspace includes a 162kW/350Nm turbo four-cylinder engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and extra underbody protection.
Volkswagen Australia says that the Tiguan Allspace Adventure “delivers unique appeal to Volkswagen customers by perfectly combining performance with practicality”.
Additional no-cost options include snow chains, rear sunblinds or a luggage compartment tray alongside all-weather floor mats.
The Monochrome edition of the Volkswagen Tiguan is described by the manufacturer as a variant focusing on a “moody, brooding style”.
Underneath, the Tiguan Monochrome edition is essentially a 162TSI R-Line, but has unique 19-inch Valencia alloy wheels finished in gloss black, dark tinted rear windows and a black package that includes roof rails, upper grille, lower rear bumper, mirror caps and rear spoiler window trims all finished in black.
A smaller 8.0-inch ‘Discover’ infotainment screen will replace the 9.2-inch screen from the 162TSI, while leather upholstery has been replaced with cloth items. Front seat and steering wheel heating have been removed, as have the high-grade LED headlights.
Volkswagen says that the Monochrome packages for Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace “allow us to tailor packages that avoid lengthy wait times caused by semiconductor shortages, in a valuable special edition format for customers”.
The Monochrome editions can be ordered now, with first deliveries taking place in January 2023.
The Tiguan R in Grid Edition specification undercuts a regular Tiguan R by $5000, making the cost of entry more attainable for a wider range of buyers. The Grid Edition will cost $63,990 before on-road costs.
Volkswagen has replaced the IQ LED headlights from the regular Tiguan R with Performance LED items. Inside the Grid Edition, VW has swapped the leather Nappa upholstery with R Sport cloth and microfleece.
Performance is unchanged, the Tiguan R still boasting 235kW/400Nm from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The performance Tiguan can currently sprint to 100km/h from rest in 5.1 seconds.
A Volkswagen Golf R Grid edition will not be released in Australia.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
