2019 Infiniti Q30 + QX30 on sale in Australia

Infiniti Cars Australia has revamped and rejigged its Q30 and QX30 ranges for 2019, with pricing starting at $44,900 plus on-road costs. The 2019 Infiniti Q30 and QX30 are in local dealerships now, and with a much simpler lineup on offer than before, Infiniti is hoping for increased sales throughout 2019.

Now with just a single engine choice, and only two Q30s and one QX30 to choose from, Infiniti is hoping that buyers of the brand’s smallest cars won’t find it hard to choose in the range. Most importantly, equipment like a reversing camera is now standard on all models.

“The changes to the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 were received very positively by our customers, so we are excited to introduce similar updates to the Infiniti Q30 and QX30,” said Infiniti Cars Australia managing director, Guy Street.

“The Infiniti Q30 and QX30 offer great value to those considering a premium small car purchase, and who want a high level of features in a luxury package.

“We’ve listened to the customer and focused on enhancing the Infiniti Q30, the Infiniti QX30 and the Infiniti brand based off this feedback.

Available in either Pure (Q30) or Sport (Q30 and QX30) model trims, both a reversing camera and DAB+ digital radio are now standard on the entry level car. The Q30 Pure ($44,900 plus on-road costs) also includes half leather and suede interior trim, cornering LED headlights with automatic high beam, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, a leather steering wheel, satellite navigation and sporty exterior details such as black mirror caps, a bodykit and dark chrome exhaust tips. Autonomous emergency braking is unavailable, however.

All models are powered by a 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which is matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive (Q30) or all-wheel drive (QX30). Fuel consumption is rated between 6.3 and 6.9L/100km.

Moving up to the Q30 Sport adds the aforementioned AEB, as well as a 360º parking camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with moving object detection, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, automatic parking, full leather upholstery and memory functionality for the front seats. The QX30 Sport is priced at $46,888 drive away – a $6,000 saving over the previous model’s non-drive away price.

The QX30 Sport ($49,888 drive away – $7,000 less than the former list price) adds 19-inch alloy wheels, raised ‘comfort focused’ suspension, roof rails, front and rear skidplates and ‘comfort’ front seats.

Infiniti Cars Australia is hoping that this update will increase Q30 and QX30 sales. Just five models from both ranges were registered in October 2018 – up on October 2017’s effort of four units, but still quite low. So far in 2018, Infiniti has sold 153 Q30/QX30s – much less than other small SUV competitors such as the BMW X1 (2,634) and platform-sharing Mercedes-Benz GLA (3,387).
