Renault Australia has added a new 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine into its Captur small SUV for 2019, with the 2019 Renault Captur on sale now. Available in variants with an automatic transmission, the new 1.3-litre turbo engine comes from the limited edition S-Editon from 2018.
The engine in question is new to the Renault range in Australia, and was co-developed with Mercedes-Benz for use in the new A-Class. It produces 110kW of power and 250Nm – significantly more than the former 88kW/190Nm 1.2-litre turbo petrol that it replaced. The 2019 Renault Captur is on sale now.
“An engine that makes driving Captur a real pleasure, Renault Australia are pleased to be expanding its availability across the Captur automatic range. This punchy engine is worth getting behind the wheel and taking Captur for a spin” says Andrew Moore, Managing Director Renault Australia.
Accompanying price rises of up to $1,000, the new 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque at just 1,600rpm. Renault Australia claims combined fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km. Matched to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard, the new 1.3-litre turbo engine can be had in Zen, Intens and new Intens S-Edition specifications. The previous 66kW/135Nm 0.9-litre turbo engine can still be purchased in the $21,990 plus on-road costs Captur Zen.
The 2019 Renault Captur range has also been given an equipment boost, with a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now standard equipment across the range. The Zen otherwise includes 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic headlights with LED daytime running lights, push button start and satellite navigation. The $29,990 Intens adds 17-inch alloy wheels, blind-spot monitoring, part-leather upholstery and front foglamps, with the $30,490 Intens S-Edition then adding bi-LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof and a Bose sound system.
