As the most powerful vehicle in BMW’s history, the XM Label Red commands a hefty six-figure price
BMW Australia has confirmed pricing and specification for the XM Label Red and Label Red Edition models that will be landing in the fourth quarter of this year.
Set to be priced from $344,200 for the XM Label Red, and $349,900 for the limited XM Label Red Edition, these vehicles represent the most expensive SUV offerings BMW Australia has on the table.
As a high-performance SUV, the BMW XM Label Red will likely face competition from other “super SUVs” such as the Lamborghini Urus, Ferrari Purosangue, and the Aston Martin DBX.
Like the ‘ordinary’ XM, power in the XM Label Red comes from a 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that’s paired with a plug-in hybrid system.
The petrol engine produces 430kW and 750Nm, whilst the electric motors chip in with an extra 145kW and 280Nm. This makes for a peak output of 550kW and 1000Nm. This represents a jump of 70kW over the standard BMW XM.
This hybrid drivetrain is paired with BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels.
In terms of performance, the XM Label Red is capable of hitting 100km from a standing start in just 3.8-seconds.
Though the majority of the exterior is the same as what we’ve already seen on the standard BMW XM, the red trimmings differentiate the Label Red from this standard model.
Those that aren’t a fan of this extroverted look are able to option regular black trimmings.
As standard, the Label Red sits on 22-inch alloy wheels, and these can be upgraded to 23-inch at no additional cost.
At $349,900 before on-road costs, the XM Label Red Edition is the more exclusive option of the two, and just 30 units have been confirmed for Australia.
Though this doesn’t sound like a heap, just 500 Label Red Editions are set to production globally, so BMW Australia has managed to secure an impressive production slot.
Key differences on the XM Label Red Edition include the Frozen Carbon Black exterior paint, and the red trimmings.
On the inside, it gets BMW Individual leather ‘Merino’ in red and black, and also gets a “1 of 500” plaque.
