Thanks for joining us this Wednesday, July 24th 2024. Notably in car news today: Ford has finally confirmed the Range Tremor for the Australian market and Hyundai has updated its Ioniq 5 electric SUV.

Ford confirms Ranger Tremor for Australia

  • Ford has confirmed 1150 units of the Ranger Tremor will be coming to Australia priced at $69,690.
  • Set to arrive in September, the Ranger Tremor is based on the Sport grade with suspension and the 2.0L twin-turbo diesel borrowed from the much more expensive limited edition Wildtrak X

  • The Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers contribute to a 26mm higher ground clearance and a 30mm wider track than a regular Ranger.
  • Other notable features include full-time four-wheel-drive, a 3500kg towing capacity, a front steel bash plate, 17-inch alloys with General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain Tyres and extended wheel arch moulding

Hyundai details Ioniq 5 update

  • Hyundai has released the full specification for its Ioniq 5 range with prices now starting from $69,800.
  • The Standard range model will now be filled with a 63kW battery while the Extended Range uses a 84kWh battery with a range of up to 440km and 570km respectively.

  • A new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display joins the list of interior tweaks, with changes also made to the ride and handling of the Ioniq 5 range. The safety package has also been bolstered with new adaptive cruise control tech
  • Buyers can also opt for the N Line styling pack on the mid-spec Dynamiq and top-spec Epiq which adds a more aggressive appearance with 20-inch wheels.

Mercedes Benz unveils GLE 300d Night Edition

  • Mercedes Benz has unveiled the GLE 300d Night Edition which will come to Australia in strictly limited numbers and will be priced from $139,900 before on-road costs.

  • The GLE 300d Night Edition features a series of black accents including 22-inch 5-twin-spoke AMG light alloy wheels.
  • It also features AirMatic adaptive suspension as standard and is equipped with Benz’s 198kW/550Nm 2.0L turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine 

Renault Megane E-Tech pricing dropped

  • Renault has dropped the pricing of the Megane E-Tech in Australia from $64,990 to  $54,990 before on-road costs.
  • The $54,990 price had previously been applied as a temporary measure under a sale set to expire at the end of the financial year

  • The sole Megane E-Tech grade launched in Australia earlier this year and competes primarily against rivals like the Tesla Model Y ($55,900) and Ford Mustang Mach-E ($65,990)
