Mazda 2 and CX-3 range to be consolidated for 2025
Mazda has announced updates to its CX-3 and Mazda 2 model ranges, which it says will make its small car range safer in 2025.
This will see base grade variants receive updated safety technology normally found in higher models. Including Mazda’sI-Activesense tech, which operates by scanning surrounding areas to recognise potential hazards.
Main changes for CX-3 include 18-in alloy wheels, Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), and Smart Brake Support (SBS). CX-3 Evolve models receive fog lamps, and keyless entry. Top spec GT SP replaces the Touring SP model, with a seven-speaker Bose sound system being the key notable upgrade.
Evolve replaces Pure as the entry level specification Mazda 2, with similar additions of Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), Smart Brake Support (SBS) and 16-in alloy wheels coming in 2025.
Pricing confirmed for all-electric Mini hatch and Aceman John Cooper Works variants
Both models will remain front wheel drive, with power and torque figures being quoted at 190kW and 350Nm.
They will both also receive a 54.2kWh battery, with the manufacturer providing a range figure of up to 371km for the Mini three door, and up to 355km for the Aceman.
Pricing starts at $63,990 MRLP for the John Cooper Works, topping out at $65,990 for the John Cooper Works Aceman.
Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 Australian launch confirmed for March 2025
While pricing has yet to be confirmed, we can expect to see the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 in Australia circa March 2025.
Originally expected for release earlier this year, VW has now confirmed the local release to coincide with the Everything Electric EV show held in March.
The ID.4 and ID.5 were planned to be the first SUV EVs Volkswagen sold in Australia, however due to this delay in arrival, the Volkswagen ID Buzz now holds that title.
Pro and High Performance variants will be available, in both the ID.4and ID.5. Power is a claimed 210kW and 545Nm of torque sent to the rear wheels.
Harrop supercharger kit released for JB74 Suzuki Jimny
Fans of the pint-sized Suzuki Jimny off-roader, rejoice! Australian manufacturers, Harrop, have just released their supercharger kit for the current JB74 Suzuki Jimny. Including the XL model.
Testing has shown power has increased by 59%. This translates to a jump from 85hp up to 134hp @6300 RPM. Providing a much needed performance boost to the stock 1.5L naturally aspirated engine.
An 85mm supercharger pulley has been utilised, with the supercharger pushing 9psi of boost. All OEM body control functions remain, however a 2.5-inch airbox inlet and custom airbox upgrade is necessary, as is ECU removal and recalibration.
Pricing starts at $10,990 for the Harrop supercharger kit, more information can be found here.
2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz Pro review
Chasing Cars contributor, Nathan Ponchard, had his launch review article and video of the new Volkswagen ID Buzz published.
Ponch set out to see if retro styling and good looks was all the ID Buzz offered, or is there actually a solid vehicle under that charming two-tone paint.
What he liked about the ID Buzz is the seating flexibility, refinement, excellent visibility and crisp acceleration.
Where it could be improved is the harsh ride quality thanks to 21-inch wheels, a lack of wireless phone mirroring, and the cost climbing to six-figures once optioned.
