Chery’s first model for Australia will start from $31,990 driveaway and is now available to order
Chery Australia has announced local pricing, specifications and safety features for its new Omoda 5 small SUV.
The model in entry-level guise has been priced starting from $31,990 driveaway in the ACT, however driveaway pricing differs state by state. Pricing tops out at $32,690 driveaway in Victoria.
The Omoda 5 EX flagship, meanwhile, starts from $35,190 driveaway in the ACT and tops out at $35,890 driveaway in Victoria.
The Omoda 5 is the first vehicle to be launched in Australia as the Chery brand returns to local shores.
At launch, every Chery Omoda 5 will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that sends 115kW/230Nm to the front wheels via a CVT transmission, however more drivetrain options, including AWD, will arrive later this year.
The Omoda 5 is the latest entrant into the popular small SUV segment which features the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona and Toyota Corolla Cross.
The new model from Chery is now available to order in Australia and will launch in the first half of 2023.
The list pricing lines up exactly with previous reports published by Chasing Cars, though the driveaway prices are cheaper than initial estimates.
As standard, the base Chery Omoda 5 comes fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and daytime running lights, keyless entry and remote engine start.
Also included is synthetic leather seat trim, dual-zone climate control, a six-way powered driver’s seat and cabin pre-heating and cooling function.
On the technology front, the Omoda 5 features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, as well as wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.
What is included for the flagship Omoda 5 EX?
Jumping up to the flagship Omoda 5 EX, this variant adds red brake callipers, front and rear ambient lighting, heated front seats and steering wheel, a powered front passenger seat, a powered tailgate and sunroof, as well as a 360-degree surround camera.

Although currently unrated by Australian safety authority ANCAP, the Chery Omoda 5 has previously been given a five-star rating by Euro NCAP.
The Chery Omoda 5 will come with a seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, along with seven years of roadside assistance and seven years of capped-price servicing.
