Apparent pricing for Chery’s Omoda 5 has been spotted before the official figures have been released
An industry database has indicated that pricing for the inbound Chery Omoda 5 small SUV will start from $29,900 for the unnamed base model when it goes on sale in March.
That figure is said to apply to the entry-level Omoda 5 grade, with the top-spec grade we now know to be called the ‘EX’ reported to carry a $32,900 price tag.
It’s likely that these figures are the list prices, meaning that they do not include any of the mandatory driveaway costs.
A Chery source has indicated however that the pricing was “factually inaccurate”, despite the industry guide’s history of accuracy.
Speaking at the Omoda 5’s preview event on Thursday, Chery executives confirmed that the national driveaway price of both grades would be priced between $30,000 and $39,999.
If the industry-sourced information proves to be correct, driveaway pricing is likely to start around $34,900 for the base model and $37,900 for the EX.
For context, the Kia Seltos is offered from around $31,690 driveaway in NSW, as is the Mazda CX-30 from around $34,200.
In the second half of the year, Chery will introduce an AWD option for the Omoda 5 and a fully electric version will follow suit in the first half of 2024.
Full pricing and specification are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, with Chery releasing a preview of the Omoda 5 specification with the following features confirmed for our market.
