The sports-focused Cupra brand is releasing a very limited number of Formentor VZx Rojo Editions in Australia
Cupra’s Australian division has announced it will bring a very limited number of its Formentor VZx SUV to Australia with unique Rojo red paint work.
Just 30 “Rojo’ editions will be coming to Australia, which can be ordered as of today before an expected delivery period between May and June.
The Rojo edition is priced from $66,490 before on-road costs, or $2500 more than a regular VZx.
Cupra says all Rojo edition cars will also come standard with a panoramic sunroof and black leather upholstery.
There have been no powertrain changes for the Rojo edition, meaning that it will continue to be powered by the same 228kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the regular VZx.
This is the first time that the Formentor SUV in VZx guise has been available with the Rojo red colour, along with a black leather interior. A red colour has been previously available for the Formentor, however only for the V and VZ variants.
The main talking point here is the Rojo red paintwork that can’t currently be optioned on any other Cupra model.
Cupra largely offers darker colour options (excluding white), as well as matte finish as an available option in petrol blue and magnetic tech colours.
Cupra says that a highly motivated customer wrote to the brand’s director Ben Wilks and Cupra’s chief executive officer Wayne Griffiths over disappointment that the Formentor VZx hasn’t been available in red.
This request has since turned into the limited-edition Formentor VZx Rojo.
The Formentor Rojo edition is well equipped and features 19-inch alloy wheels, quad exhaust system, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 12.0-inch central touchscreen, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a nine-speaker Beats sound system and three-zone climate control.
On the safety front, the Rojo edition comes fitted with rain sensing wipers, front AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane assist, park assist, side safe-exit assist, a driver fatigue monitor, emergency assist, adaptive cruise control and pre-crash warning.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
