Recent reductions across Leon VZ, VZe, and VZx grades have made the spicy Spanish hatch an even more enticing offering
Cupra has revealed lower pricing figures for the Leon hatch, with the changes touching almost every grade offered in Australia.
Effective immediately, the price reductions across the Leon range mean that buyers will save up to $1500 on selected vehicles.
These price cuts make the already enticing Leon VZx an even better proposition, bringing a tougher fight to the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI ($55,490), the Hyundai i30 N ($46,200), and the Honda Civic Type R ($72,600).
The biggest price cut has hit the flagship Leon VZx, which now gets a national drive-away price of $63,990, representing a $1500 reduction.
Then comes the Leon VZ, which has been cut by $1000, meaning that it can be had from $56,490 drive-away.
Things are a little more complicated when it comes to the plug-in hybrid Leon VZe, which gets an overall price reduction of $500, dropping it to $59,990 before on-road costs.
The complication comes when you bring in state-based incentives, which affect the drive-away prices quite significantly. State-based drive-away prices for the Leon VZe are as follows; $62,990 ACT, $63,990 QLD, $64,990 NSW/SA, $65,490 VIC, and $65,990 WA.
The entry-level Leon V remains unchanged at $47,900 driveaway, with orders to commence shortly.
Cupra Australia notes that the range-topping Leon VZx and plug-in hybrid VZe both now share a before on-road costs price at $59,990 with the recently launched Born EV.
Speaking on these new prices, Cupra Australia Director Ben Wilks explained that these new prices were made possible as a result of other well-known brands departing from the segment.
“We have negotiated this at a time when price rises are affecting the whole industry including our own SUV range, owing to inflation, supplier cost, and transport increases,” he said.
