Ford Ranger wait times: Raptor up to 12 months, twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder Wildtrak available now

Wait times for the 2023 Ford Ranger have blown out up to 12 months in the case of the Raptor – but opt for a Wildtrak twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder and there is no wait at all.

Ford Australia has updated the availability of its red-hot new dual-cab ute as its factory in Thailand struggles to pump them out fast enough.

Ongoing semiconductor shortages and shipping congestion also continue to plague Ranger delivery times, but also new vehicle production around the world.

In Ford Australia’s case, Raptor wait-times are up to 12 months, three Ford dealerships in Victoria, NSW and Queensland told Chasing Cars. The official line is order now and receive your vehicle approximately June 2023. Ford Australia says some Raptors are available now if customers are flexible on specification.

Meanwhile red-hot demand for optional Ranger equipment like the Premium Pack has further contributed to delays.

For $1500 the Wildtrak Premium Pack is a must-get, adding matrix headlights, LED tail-lights, 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio and six overhead auxiliary switches.

Ford Australia anticipated a 20 percent take-up rate but demand has been closer to 90 percent, sources told Chasing Cars.

With constricted supply, customers can get their Rangers sooner by opting to go without the popular pack.

• Ranger Wildtrak V6 – order now, May 2023 approximate delivery. Some stock available now if you’re flexible on specification. Optioning the Premium Pack will cause delay.
• Ranger Sport V6 – order now, January 2023 approximate delivery. Some stock available now if you’re flexible on specification.
• Ranger Super Cab – scheduled to arrive from late 2022.
• Ranger XLT – no waiting period.
• Ranger Sport 2.0L Bi-Turbo – no waiting period.
• Ranger Wildtrak 2.0L Bi-Turbo – no waiting period.
