Pricing starts at $127,800 before on-road costs, making the electrified GV70 a cheaper and quicker SUV proposition than a Mercedes-AMG GLC 43
Pricing has been announced for the first electrified Genesis GV70, which starts at $127,800 before on-road costs.
The new electric variant is set for release this month (September 2022) and will crucially provide an estimated battery range of 445km (WLTP) per charge.
The electrified GV70 is positioned cheaper than one of its biggest competitors – the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 – yet has very similar performance on paper to the twin-turbo V8-powered GLC 63 SUV.
The GV70 electric competes in the electrified space with the BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz EQC and even the smaller but still important Kia EV6 in all-wheel drive form.
The electrified Genesis GV70 features a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain that produces total outputs of 360kW/700Nm and is powered by a 77.4kWh battery pack.
Power is split evenly between the front and rear axles where there is a total of 180kW/350Nm available at each end.
The result is a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds, making the electric GV70 much quicker off the mark than the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6-powered Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 that achieves the same sprint in 4.9 seconds.
The electrified GV70 features several new technologies to aid with comfort and functionality.
The electric SUV has a smart regenerative braking system which allows one-pedal start and stop, eliminating the need to use the brake pedal.
A disconnector actuator system (DAS) features on the electric GV70 that works by connecting and disconnecting the electric motor and drive shafts by seamlessly offering both rear- and all-wheel drive.
Genesis’ active noise control reduces noise inside the cabin by creating opposite sounds to cancel them. Genesis says this makes for a more refined in-cabin driving experience.
Optimal drive comfort is possible thanks to Genesis’ use of an electronic control suspension preview function that scans the road ahead and can account for bumps or potholes in the road surface.
The new electrified Genesis GV70 is equipped with a range of features including:
The Genesis electrified GV70 is fitted with eight airbags including front centre side airbags. The electric GV70 also comes standard with the following suite of safety features:
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
