Price of entry for Genesis’ updated GV80 SUV is up. The diesel six is no more, but the GV80 continues with three-strong variant lineup
Genesis Australia has confirmed full pricing and specifications for its updated luxury large SUV offering, the GV80.
Available in SUV and Coupe body styles, the GV80 will be exclusively offered with a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, with the outgoing 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline-six and 2.5-litre turbo petrol having been discontinued.
Price of entry now starts at $130,000 before on-road costs, or $26,330 more than what the entry point was for the model in June 2023.
The GV80 range has also been restructured, with prices and specifications up reflecting, Genesis says, buyer preferences for fully-optioned vehicles.
As a result, the GV80 range has shrunk by some margin for 2025. Just three variants remain: the $130,000 seven seat GV80 SUV, the $133,000 six-seat GV80 SUV, and the $136,000 GV80 Coupe – all before on-road costs.
A part of the price increase comes as a result of Genesis adding the popular Luxury Pack to all GV80s as standard, which previously had a take-up rate of 95 percent for past customers.
This pack previously cost $10,500, and featured nappa leather upholstery, massage front seats, soft-close doors and heating and ventilation for the second row.
The Genesis GV80 is available now in Australia, and competes with other luxury SUVs such as the BMW X7, the Audi Q8 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class.
For 2025, Genesis has axed its 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline-six engine for the GV80 and will instead fit the brand’s 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine to all GV80s going forward. The existing 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine has also been dropped for the GV80.
This 3.5-litre V6 produces maximum outputs of 279kW and 530Nm, and is controlled via an eight-speed automatic transmission. All GV80s feature all-wheel drive, which Genesis says is more rear-wheel drive biased than other systems on the market.
As for fuel economy, Genesis claims its V6 engine will use 11.7L/100km combined, significantly higher than the 8.8L/100km combined figure of the now discontinued 3.0-litre turbo-diesel six.
Beginning with the GV80 seven seat SUV, owners will gain the following standard specification items:
Stepping up to the six-seater version of the GV80 SUV, owners gain:
The flagship GV80 coupe is a five-seater – so it loses the third row – but it adds:
The GV80 was tested by ANCAP in 2021 and received a five-star safety rating, but only for the now defunct 3.0-litre diesel and 2.5-litre petrol. The 3.5-litre V6 is yet to be tested by ANCAP or NCAP.
As standard, however, the updated 2025 GV80 comes fitted with the following safety features:
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
